This is the extension that allows you to translate text selected on any page and even more - it adds toolbar button that you can use for an easy access to the Google Transator. Actually it is a rewrited fork of the https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/translate-selected-text/fbimffnjoeobhjhochngikepgfejjmgj .

- Why fork?
First of all to satisfy my requirements of the extension and very long answers on my proposals during which I was able to rewrite whole extension and add the required features.

- Why it asks for a permissions to change 'translate.google.com'?
Because original translator interface are overloaded with unnecessary components(header/footer) that doesn't need for quick translations imho. And more - with new 'chrome panels' existing of header/footer lead to scrolling every time translator was opened.

- I found a bug or want some feature!
